Five minutes later it was 2-1 as Lionel Messi scored his second, with brilliant build up play involving Andres Iniesta and Eric Abidal. Before the break Barcelona nearly scored a goal of the season contender but Cesc Fabregas' acrobatic effort came back off the crossbar after an Andres Iniesta chip. Barcelona created a host of chances in the second half and had a Pedro goal disallowed for offside. After good work by Tello, Barcelona made the game safe and it was Lionel Messi who claimed his hat-trick with 14 minutes to go. In the final stages Barca turned the screw; first Lionel Messi scored his 4th of the game with an exquisite chip, while Xavi rounded off the rout with a killer fifth at the death. |
